Devon day 1- Knightshayes and Appledore

Friday. Mark’s 50th birthday. Cat/house sitters installed, satnav set up and we set off for Appledore via the National Trust house and gardens at Knighthayes.

First off, the kitchen gardens…

Then the gardens around the house…

…and then the woodland walk…

We had company on our walk…

Onwards to our beautiful home for the week, over looking the River Torridge estuary at Appledore..

The main bedroom even has an old sewing machine in it, to make me feel at home.

Mark decided he wanted fish and chips for his birthday dinner, so a long walk and back via the chippie and our local deli.

So many bright and cheerful doorways and house names.

As darkness falls, a new magic awakens…the lights make some of the boats look like they are alight!
