The Guernsey Coastline and St Peter Port

We learned early on that starting off the day with a bus trip from Fort Grey not only meant a downhill walk to the bus stop (on the way home we made sure to get one of the buses that crossed the island so we also had a downhill walk from the bus stop to the apartment…not just pretty faces!) and a nice view from the bus stop, but if we timed it right we could have a cooked breakfast at the Guernsey Pearl first! Should you find yourself in the area, I really recommend the breakfast – but a half breakfast is plenty, even for greedy guts like us! (They do an excellent crab salad too…and the staff are lovely). On our first full day in Guernsey we got the bus the ‘wrong’ way round the outside of the island to St Peter Port, just to get our bearings. All bus fares are £1 no matter how far you go, so we didn’t bother hiring a car. Buses and walking worked fine for us – just getting taxis to and from the airport.
