I am sure I have mentioned what a fan I am of the Bath WI, and our next meeting (2 July, if you are in the area) is a party in the Bath WI garden in Bath’s Botanical Gardens…posh frocks, cocktails and all! I thought we might be needing some photos of the garden and I am embarrassed to say I hadn’t seen our garden…or been to Victoria Park in ages, for that matter. Today the sun shone and it seemed like the day to do it. After all, I work on rainy weekends, so why shouldn’t I take a jolly on a sunny work day?
It’s a lovely walk through Victoria Park to reach the Botanical gardens, tree lined avenues, glimpses of the Royal Crescent, ponds and ducks, birds and lots of squirrels, dogs on their morning walks and even a couple of lions!
The Botanical Gardens are beautiful – and incidentally, the only people who made eye contact and said hello were the park’s gardeners!
Turn a corner and there is the Bath WI garden! Our garden group has clearly been working really hard!
The walk back was just as lovely, but Bath’s workforce hurrying to their jobs was replaced by coachloads of tourists.
And what’s a blog post without a bit of arty nonsense? The view between the park gate posts…!
So much walking was probably not my best idea as Thursday is my George the spaniel walking day…but we made it around our local park, Alice Park, a couple of times. When I started walking George he wouldn’t come to me when I called, so I started keeping treats in my pocket…now he comes running…but if he doesn’t get a treat he barks…loudly!
This shrub was absolutely swarming with lovely bees!
