two take time out in Dorset: the seaside bit

Mark and I have just got home from a week and a bit in Dorset. We are lucky enough to have a wee little holiday flat in West Bay near Bridport and spent a perfect time relaxing and pottering along beaches and around houses and gardens (plus the odd cafe).

West Bay is where recent tv serial ‘Broadchurch’ was filmed (well most of it, some was filmed in Clevedon) – a lovely place nestled on the Jurassic coast.

The harbour is a great place to people watch – all ages fishing or just exploring.

Just along the coast is Charmouth – very atmospheric with a sea mist.

Plenty of friendly locals:

In the past whenever we tried to visit Weymouth, Mark got ill. Despite the odds being against us, we thought we would try again – Mark was fine, but Weymouth was somewhat underwhelming. I picked a few shots of the nicer bits – the harbour, the architecture and a little of the sea front. We only just made it back over the bridge to the car before it opened…very disconcerting when someone starts shouting for pedestrians to clear the bridge immediately as it about to open!!

  1. I,m probably biased because I live here (Weymouth) but I love visiting along the coast, Lyme Regis, char mouth, the beach between those two is great at low tide with the pavements uncovered.
    Great photos.

I love comments - so do say hello!
