the sparrow hedge

We are fortunate to have a high, deep hedge between our house and the other half of our semi. It is a haven for garden birds and most years has numerous nests. Contrary to the general trend, we have more house sparrows than any other species, and the fledglings are hopping around, fluttering their wings and begging to be fed.
