Today the sun shone and the call of a garden reached me. Not our own but the National Trust’s garden, the Courts, at Holt. It is a lovely place – a perfect mixture of formal gardens, ponds and hedging with wildlife areas of buttercups and Queen Anne’s Lace.
In the vegetable garden, planted with early veg, fruit and interspersed with allium, an old rhubarb forcer caught my eye. We only have one small rhubarb plant at the moment (more next year!), but oh I would so like a terracotta rhubarb forcer!
In the more naturally planted part of the garden, I fell in love with this tree…weeping to the ground, like a living tent.
We made friends with another visitor.
After a peaceful wander to recharge our batteries we headed back to the car and spotted this clematis montana…seeking world domination.
